SIX DIRECTIONS
INDIGENOUS SCHOOL

OUR MISSION
At Six Directions Indigenous School, we are committed to culturally relevant Indigenous education and interdisciplinary project-based learning. Our mission is to develop critically conscious students who are engaged in their communities, demonstrate holistic well-being, and graduate with a personal plan for post-secondary success.

CRITICALLY CONSCIOUS
We believe in raising students who are active participants in the world around them. Given the long history of colonization and disenfranchisement of Native peoples in our region, our students must be able to critique structures of power, use their voices productively, and take action against injustice. Our students will be confident, aware, and powerful.
ENGAGED IN THEIR COMMUNITIES
We know our communities are stronger when our youth grow up with a sense of purpose and a belief in their ability to make meaningful contributions. Community engagement is not an add-on—it is central to our students’ sense of identity, belonging, and impact.
HOLISTIC WELL-BEING
Indigenous education is not only about academics. We nurture the full development of each student—intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, identity-based, and physical. Inspired by Indigenous scholars like Dr. Greg Cajete, we guide our students in finding their “inner center,” where wellness and identity are interwoven.
A PLAN TO SUCCEED IN POST-SECONDARY OPTIONS
Every student deserves an education that prepares them to thrive—whether that means pursuing college, vocational training, military service, entrepreneurship, or traditional roles in their community. We ensure every graduate leaves with a clear, actionable plan for their next steps.
